Zamil to build major steel plant
Zamil Steel Viet Nam announced it has completed a contract to build a steel mill that will have a production capacity of 1 million tonnes per year in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province.
The company was appointed by Pomina Joint Stock Company, a steel products manufacturer under the Thep Viet Corporation, to implement all phases of the project, including design, manufacturing and installation.
The factory, which Zamil said would be the largest of its kind in Viet Nam, will cover a total area of 30,000sq.m and take 6,500 tonnes of steel to construct.
The design was developed by Zamil's pre-engineered steel building technology and assessed by US engineering group Parsons Brinckerhoff.
"We are proud to be selected again by Pomina to supply the steel package for this important project, after the previous Thep Viet project in the Phu My Industrial Park," said Zamil regional manager Nguyen Minh Phuong.
The factory is expected to be commissioned next June. When the facility opens, Pomina will increase its total forged steel production capacity to 1.5 million tonnes per year, making it the largest forged steel maker in the country.
Zamil has supplied facilities for major steel mill projects including Phu My Flat Steel Factory, Dinh Vu Steel Plant, China Steel Sumikin Vietnam Joint Stock Company and two projects of the Lotus Steel Factory.
