Nation oils deals with Uzbekistan
Viet Nam and Uzbekistan will speed up co-operation deals on various plans based on agreements that the two sides had reached at the fourth session of the Inter-Governmental Committee for Economic, Trade and Scientific Technological Co-operation, said Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai.
Speaking with the Uzbekistani First Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations N Nazhimov and Foreign Deputy Minister Solihbaev A at a meeting in Ha Noi yesterday, Hai said the two countries would focus on co-operation in oil and gas, mining, garment and textile, silk and shoe production.
He affirmed the Government would create conditions for Vietnamese businesses to implement their investment projects on leather shoes, garment and textiles and silk in Uzbekistan.
Hai said the Viet Nam-Uzbekistan Business Forum which is to be held in HCM City today would be an opportunity for the two sides' enterprises to further study the trade potential between the respective countries.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen trade promotion activities, which would pave the way for their enterprises to develop co-operation.
The agreement was reached after Nazhimov told Hai that joint co-operation in economy and trade was modest and had not yet matched its full potential.
Solihbaev, meanwhile, said Uzbekistan wanted Viet Nam to help it approach the markets in ASEAN countries.
Earlier, Viet Nam and Uzbekistan signed the documents concerning the fourth session on Economic, Commercial Scientific and Technological Co-operation, which covers a range of agreements. Under the plan, Uzbekistan will provide cotton products, chemical fertilisers and liquefied gas to Viet Nam on a long-term and stable basis, while Viet Nam will provide agro-forestry products and seafood to Uzbekistan.
