Toyota expands business with used-car trade

Japanese automaker Toyota has expanded its business in Vietnam by trading in used cars in addition to products assembled in the country and imported from outside.

The Toyota East Saigon Company in Ho Chi Minh City’s Go Vap District is the first of its local dealers to implement the Japanese auto giant’s plan.

Toyota’s president in Vietnam Akito Tachibana said the move was motivated by strong demand among Vietnamese customers.

“By introducing the business service of (Trading in) used cars, Toyota Vietnam has set a benchmark for stable and long-term business in Vietnam,” said Tachibana. “We and all our dealers always make major efforts to provide customers with high quality products and services in order to give them great satisfaction.”

The used car center, which has an area of 1,000 square meters and an investment of VND16 billion (US$840,000) introduces used cars produced by Toyota and other automakers and provides services like maintenance, refurbishing and car evaluation, Toyota Vietnam said in a statement.

Toyota, which tops car sales in Vietnam, said it would expand the service soon through other dealers in the country.
