Vietnam’s coffee output likely to increase by 7%

Vietnam’s coffee output is expected to increase by 100,000 tonnes in the next crop from 1 million to 1.1 million tonnes.

The prediction was made by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Robusta coffee accounts for 97 percent of the country’s total export volume, however the total amount of Arabica coffee exports will rise sharply in the next few years as Vietnam is expanding coffee crops.

Vietnam, the world’s second largest coffee exporter, plans to increase coffee export value in the near future through improving the product’s quality. Last year, its coffee export volume increased by 10 percent to hit 1.17 million tonnes, however export earnings dropped by 19 percent to only US$1.7 billion.
