Land put aside as river terminal

Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park in Nha Be District's Hiep Phuoc Commune handed over more than 15ha of land to the Tan Cang – Hiep Phuoc Port Joint-stock Company to develop a terminal on Wednesday.

Tan Cang – Hiep Phuoc Terminal will have a 420-metre-long berth on Soai Rap River which can accommodate vessels of up to 30,000DWT. Construction on the terminal will start in September and be completed by the second quarter of the next year.

The terminal, which will neighbour Long Hau Industrial Park, will be easily accessible by nearby Nguyen Van Linh Highway and National Highway 1 to the Mekong Delta provinces.

The company will also build nearly 4ha of warehousing and develop another 350-metre berth for barges on Dong Dien River.

The port is part of the Government's sea strategies to develop sea ports to 2020, replacing existing terminals on the Sai Gon River with ports on the bigger Soai Rap River.
