Airbus delivers new aircraft to Vietnam
European aircraft manufacturer Airbus has delivered a new jet filled with donated medical equipment to Vietnam Airlines.
The 17th of 41 A321s the national carrier ordered is part of a US$1.9 billion contract signed between the two companies. The jet was also filled with medical equipment to be donated to a Hanoi hospital by a French charity organization.
Vietnam Airlines, which operated 58 aircrafts, including 34 Airbus planes, in 2009, will add 16 new jets to its fleet this year.
The newly-delivered aircraft arrived in Hanoi on Wednesday (June 2) from Hamburg, Germany carrying medical equipment from the Airbus Corporate Foundation.
The 3.8 tons of dialysis equipment, including 12 generators, 2 video screens, catheters, and other parts donated by the Purpan Hospital in Toulouse, France will be transferred to the Hanoi Hospital of Nephrology and Dialysis, where it will be used to treat patients suffering from kidney problems.
