Vietnam aims to attract more Singaporean investors

Friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore has developed well in various fields, said Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, while receiving Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, who is also Defence Minister, in Hanoi on May 13.

Mr Hai said he was delighted at the rapid recovery of Singapore’s economy after the global financial crisis, and called the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) a symbol of effective cooperation between the two countries.

Mr Hai also expressed his hope that Singapore will continue to encourage its businesses to invest in Vietnam. Singapore is currently an attractive destination for Vietnamese students, and the two countries’ educational cooperation has seen fruitful development, he added.

Mr Teo said he was impressed by Vietnam’s strong economic development in recent years. He hoped agreements reached by both sides, including cooperation agreements in the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), would continue to benefit the two countries.
