Auto sales up 23% in April

The Vietnam Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) reports that its members saw their sales in April increase by 23 percent over the same period last year to 9,551 units.

According to figures released by VAMA on May, multi-purpose vehicles registered the strongest growth at 75 percent with 1,622 units sold, while sales of passenger cars rose by 19 percent to 2,384 units and commercial cars went up 8 percent with 5,546 units, respectively.

However, the impressive performance in April was not enough to upset stagnant sales in the first four months of this year. Total auto sales for the January-April period increased only 5 percent.
