Phu Cat airport modernised to meet demand

A Vietnam Airlines-invested plan to expand and modernise Phu Cat airport in the central province of Binh Dinh is underway to meet the growing demand.

To that end, Phu Cat airport will have its plane parking area expanded to 70,000 sq. m from its current size of 40,000 sq. m with an investment of more than 17 billion VND coming from the national airline.

The airport is expected to resume its services on the upgraded parking area on September 2.

Vietnam Airlines plans to use the 167-seated plane A320, instead of Fokker 70, for its services from and to Phu Cat airport.

It will also increase the number of flights between the airport and Ho Chi Minh City and to Hanoi, to seven and five, a week, respectively.

This year, Phu Cat airport is expected to serve 150,000 passengers, 50,000 passengers higher than 2009.
