Work starts on phase of highway
Work on the second phase of the Ha Noi Highway Expansion Project began last Friday at an estimated cost of VND2.2 trillion (US$119 million).
A 15.7km stretch of the highway from Sai Gon Bridge to Tan Van Intersection is set to be widened.
People's Committee Deputy Chairman Nguyen Thanh Tai told the inaugural ceremony this would provide better access to HCM City from the eastern side, ease congestion, and enable development of provinces southeast of the city.
The HCM City Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company (CII) will complete the work later this year and collect toll from users for 25 years and nine months.
The expansion will make the stretch from Sai Gon Bridge to Binh Thai Intersection 153.5m wide and the remaining stretch to Tan Van Intersection, 113.5m wide.
Following the first phase of expansion, which was completed last September, the highway became 153m wide between the PMK and Binh Thai intersections.
