VN, China agree to develop tourism
Representatives from Viet Nam and China have agreed to work together to exploit the tourism potential of the Ban Gioc-Duc Thien Waterfalls in northern Cao Bang Province.
The agreement was made at the first negotiation session on co-operation tourism held in Beijing recently.
Pham Quang Hung, Head of the Viet Nam Tourism Administration's International Co-operation Department, led the Vietnamese delegation in talks with his Chinese counterpart Liu Kezhi from China National Tourism Administration.
The two countries agreed that tourism co-operation at Ban Gioc-Duc Thien waterfalls must minimise the impact on the surrounding environment, and stressed that the co-operation would contribute to strengthen the relations between the authorities and people in the border provinces.
The two also agreed to establish a joint co-operative mechanism and master tourism plan for the development of Ban Gioc-Duc Thien waterfalls areas. This is a new form of co-operation, which would act as the basis for further projects.
Regarding the 2010-2012 tourism agreement the two countries agreed to exchange delegations and information on tourism and create conditions for increased tourism investment.
The two sides would quicken the signing of documents as a way of promoting co-operation between the two countries.
