Building begins on Binh Duong project
Construction has begun on housing and office building projects in the 1,000-ha new Binh Duong City, located between Thu Dau Mot town and the districts of Ben Cat and Tan Uyen in southern Binh Duong Province.
The Binh Duong Province People's Committee and the Investment Service and Consultant Joint- Stock Company (BECAMEX ISC CO), are the investors in the project, with total capital of VND150 trillion (US$7.9 billion).
As the largest urban development project in the region, the Binh Duong City will be the province's economic, politic, social and cultural centre as well as a modern urban area with modern services for 500,000 residents living and working there.
Nguyen Duc Kien, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly, said that building a new city would help the province develop its economic strength.
The southern city and Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) provinces will be linked through ports and international airports.
Binh Duong Province has invited local and foreign architects to design the city's main works to maintain consistency in management as well as building and development.
The city's political and administrative centre was designed by Singapore-based design consultancy CPG Corp.
The provincial leaders have also emphasised the important of training high-qualified human resources in the city by investing in Eastern International University and Mapletree Hi-Tech Park.
Much of the city's infrastructure, including a road network, has been built, according to Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of BECAMEX ISC CO's Management Director Board.
Under construction are apartment buildings, villas, schools, hotels, restaurants and supermarkets. In the future, a subway and elevated train network will connect the city and neighbouring provinces.
