Foreign banks finance Song Bung 2 hydro power plant

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and three foreign banks signed a credit contract worth 80 million USD and 8.8 billion JPY (95.2 million USD) in Hanoi on March 30 for construction of the Song Bung 2 hydro power plant.

The banks included Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), the Hong Kong branch of Societe Generale and the Singapore branch of BNP Paribas.

The hydro power plant, built in Nam Giang District, in the central province of Quang Nam at a cost of 3.661 trillion VND (190.372 million USD), will turn out 425 million kWh per year.
