FDI disbursement reaches US$1.4 billion in March

The Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) disbursed in March reached a record number of US$1.4 billion, raising the total FDI disbursement in the first quarter of this year to US$2.5 billion, says the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

In the first three months of 2010, 139 projects have been newly licensed with a total registered capital of US$1.924 billion, just more than half of last year’s figures in terms of projects and registered capital.

Of these, 41 projects were provided with additional capital worth US$215 million.

The southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau leads FDI investment capital with US$902.6 million, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with US$448 million and Quang Ngai with US$340 million.

The US is the largest FDI investor in Vietnam (US$980 million), followed by the Republic of Korea (US$585 million) and Singapore (nearly US$147 million).
