Dinh Vu IZ's phase 2 to kick off soon

An announcement of plans for phase 2 of the development of Dinh Vu Industrial Zone (IZ) took place in northen Hai Phong City on Wednesday.

Phase 2 covers an area of 377.46ha with a total investment of VND1.6 trillion (US$88 million) and will include eight sectors serving heavy industry, light industry, oil refinery and chemicals.

294.37ha will be reserved for industrial production, 17.37ha for port construction and the rest for transport and green trees.

The plans have paid attention to economic growth, closely linked to environmental protection and sustainable development.

Accordingly, clean water will be supplied by An Duong Water Company and Hoa Binh Channel. The IZ's waste water treatment system will be disposed at a station with a maximum capacity of 9,600cu.m a day and waste will also be divided and treated before being transported to the city's disposal area.

Dinh Vu is considered as one of the most interesting investment destinations in the north with synchronous infrastructure as well as an advantageous strategic location and a 20,000-DWT sea port.

In addition, several preferential policies have been made for enterprises operating out of the IZ.

Last year, the city invested VND95 billion into the IZ's infrastructure.

Dinh Vu Industrial Zone General Director Filip Martens said last year's turnover was VND7.2 trillion ($389 million) which contributed VND970 billion ($52 million) to the State budget.

Martens said the IZ has attracted a total investment of around $1 billion for 27 projects across a total rental area of over 140ha.

"This year we will pour more than VND200 billion ($10.8 million) into the IZ to achieve a growth of 20 per cent over last year," he added.

Representatives from the company said they have rushed to speed up phase 2 of the process and complete procedures such as land clearance in order to be able to start construction of Dinh Vu Residential and Commercial Area by the end of this year.
