Viettel offers push mail service

Military-run telecom giant Viettel is offering a push mail service, allowing mobile phone users to keep track of their email accounts without having to access the Internet.

The service will be available on Blackberry handsets, which are exclusively distributed in the local market by Viettel, the company said in a statement.

Viettel posted revenues of VND60 trillion (US$3.24 billion) last year, up 80 percent from 2008, according to a company official. The firm has targeted a growth rate of 60 percent for this year.

It announced recently a plan to sell Apple’s iPhones in Vietnam in the next few months.
