Auto imports drop 69 percent in January

Nearly 3,400 automobiles were imported in January, worth a total of 54.6 million USD, a decline of 69.6 percent against December 2009, according to the General Department of Customs.

Of that figure, 2,400 were nine-seat cars, 35 were cars with more than nine seats, and the remaining were trucks.

Most of the automobiles were imported from the Republic of Korea, with 1,700 units, followed by Japan with 485, the US, 457 and China, 117.
