6,500 tonnes of rice to be exported at start of 2010

The Tra Vinh Food Company is about to export 6,500 tonnes of rice to the Philippines and Malaysia as scheduled.

Luong Van Viet, Director of Tra Vinh Food Company, said that since rice exports can make it big this year, the delivery will take place ahead of schedule to make room in storehouses for new rice purchasing from farmers.

In order to fulfill the target to buy, process and export as much as 150,000 tonnes of rice in 2010, the Tra Vinh Food Company has asked the two processing factories in Cang Long and Cau Ke to buy all the rice in the autumn-winter and winter-spring crops.

It will also complete the construction of a self-contained storehouse in Cau Ke in the second quarter of 2010. The storehouse, equipped with the most modern technology and costing about VND62 billion, will have a capacity of 70,000 tonnes of rice every year.
