Business licensing slowed in heavy traffic areas

Licenses will not be granted to supermarkets and foreign language centers in Ho Chi Minh City areas with frequent traffic problems, according to the local People’s Committee.

Issued on Friday as one of several short-term solutions to the city’s worsening traffic situation, the move targets businesses that easily crowd the streets. Wedding service providers may also face restrictions.

The HCMC People’s Committee has asked related agencies to list the streets and areas with frequent traffic jams as a reference for the city’s Department of Planning and Investment to grant licenses.

Parking will also be banned on those streets and in certain areas.
