Vietnam exports 200,000 tonnes of coffee to UK
The Intimex Import Export JSC has signed a contract with two leading UK companies, Louis Dreyfus and Armajaro Trading, to export 100,000 tonnes of coffee for each at a total cost of US$280 million.
The contract was signed during Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai’s recent visit to the United Kingdom.
The coffee will be shipped to the UK from November 2009 to October 2010.
This is the first time the Intimex Import Export JSC has signed an export contract for such a large volume of coffee to the UK, accounting for more than one fifth of this year’s coffee output.
In 2008, the company exported about 120,000 tonnes of coffee.
