Romanian firms explore business potential in VN
A delegation of representatives from Romanian enterprises looked into business opportunities in Viet Nam at a meeting in Ha Noi yesterday.
The Romanian delegation are on a five-day visit to the country and the firms they represent specialise in such sectors as engineering, electricity, wood, steel and IT.
Romanian Ambassador to Viet Nam Dumitru Olaru said Romania was ready to create the most favourable conditions to do business with Vietnamese to foster better co-operation.
General director of the Romanian Department of External Relations Radu Zaharia said the government would do all it could to develop better economic relations with Viet Nam.
Two-way trade reached US$61 million in the first eight months of this year, including $50 million in exports from Viet Nam to Romania of mainly live animals and products of animal origin. Other exports included electrical machinery, textiles, footwear and plastics.
Zaharia called on Vietnamese businesses to take advantages of the Romanian visit to explore the huge potential for trade between the two countries.
Viet Nam could also help Romanian exports reach ASEAN and Asian markets, while Romania could be a gateway for Vietnamese goods to penetrate the EU market, said Doan Duy Khuong, the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry vice president.
