Rice exports earn US$2 billion

In September Vietnam exported 401,190 tonnes of rice, increasing the total volume in the first nine months to nearly 5 million tonnes, worth over US$2 billion, according to the Vietnam Food Association.

Farmers in the Mekong Delta have nearly finished harvesting the summer-autumn crop, but the output is lower than the same period last year, however, the price of rice for the domestic market and for export has increased.

In the domestic market, at present the price of 5 percent broken rice stands at VND6,700-6,800 per kilogram and that of 15 percent broken rice is between VND6,100-6,200 per kilogram.
