eBay hits Vietnam

Vietnamese individuals and businesses are now able to put their goods up for auction on U.S. popular e-commerce site eBay via its Vietnamese website www.ebay.vn, according to eBay’s Vietnamese partner.

PeaceSoft Solutions Corporation told Tuoi Tre newspaper the website would act as a gateway to granting Vietnamese businesses better access to international customers.

The company, owner of Vietnamese-language online trading site Chodientu.vn, partnered with the U.S. online auction giant in June 2008.

In 2007, eBay officially entered Vietnam with the launch of its Vietnamese website.

In April this year, the two partners launched a new online auction and selling site, at www.ebay.chodientu.vn and www.ebay.vn, which allows customers to buy and pay for products in Vietnam.

Shoppers can deposit money into their eBay accounts at local banks, including Vietcombank, DongA Commercial Bank, Techcombank and Vietnam International Bank.
