PetroVietnam increases cooperation with Kuwait

A Kuwaiti delegation, led by Ahmad Abdulla Al-Ahmad AlSabah, Minister of Oil and chairman of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) met with the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) as part of their 5-day visit to Vietnam from September 20-25.

During the meeting, both parties discussed cooperation in exploring for, surveying, mining, and processing oil; selling and buying crude oil and other oil-based products, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), supplying Petroleum and human resources services; and putting the Nghi Son Refinery project into operation.

They also discussed the training of staff and specialists for PetrolVietnam in Universities in Kuwait.

Speaking at the meeting, PetroVietnam CEO Dinh La Thang expressed his willingness to cooperate with partners from Kuwait in various fields.

“Vietnam is keen to support Kuwaiti businesses who want to invest in the country,” Thang added.

KPC has already signed two contracts for oil sharing with Vietnam in offshore plots No. 18 and 19, and is one of the two parties investing in the Nghi Son Refinery project.

The delegation plans to work with Thanh Hoa’s provincial leaders on September 22-23 to speed up the Nghi Son project.
