Better deals for post-paid mobile phone subscribers
Mobile phone operators recently organised several promotional campaigns to attract or retain existing post-paid subscribers.
The move follows complaints from post-paid subscribers, who account for 10 per cent of all users, that they had not received the same attention and back-up service as pre-paid subscribers.
A representative from VinaPhone agreed that post-paid subscribers had been largely neglected by mobile phone operators.
Despite the fact that post-paid subscribers only make up about 10 per cent of the mobile phone market, many of them pay on average around VND500,000 (US$30) a month.
In response to customer complaints, VinaPhone introduced "Care Plus". Under the programme, subscribers will become diamond, gold, titan or silver members, based on the amount they spend on calls, which will entitle them to benefits such as free call time.
In addition, the company said post-paid subscribers would receive a free phone if they spent an average of VND5 million a month for five straight months.
"Serving our customers, improving the quality of our service and making our service more affordable are our priorities," said Lam Hoang Vinh, director of VinaPhone.
MobiFone and Viettel have also announce promotional programmes for post-paid subscribers.
Industry experts say mobile phone operators are trying to hold on to customers in a more competitive market.
They said the telecommunications market would become even more competitive when the Ministry of Information and Communications implements its plan to allow subscribers to retain their phone numbers when they change networks.
