TMS: Purchase of container barges

Transforwarding Warehousing Joint Stock Corporation (TRANSIMEX SAIGON) has informed of purchasing container barges as follows:

On 8th August 2009, the company signed a contract of building and purchasing three 96-teu container barges. The contract is between TRANSIMEX SAIGON and the Saigon Maritime Joint Stock Co. (TRANSIMEX SAIGON contributes 13.56%) and the supplier as the Minh Quan Infrastructure Development one-member limited company. The cost of the contract is VND35 billion. The three container barges will be handed over in October 2009. They are used for transporting containers on the route of Sai Gon – Cai Mep with capacity of 900 teus every week.

Putting the two international ports as SP-PSA and Tan Cang Cai Mep on the route of Cai Mep-Thi Vai into operation has increased flows of cargo transported in the area. It has opened the transport route of cargo from Vietnam to other markets without transit in Singapore and Hongkong. Because of the reason, investing to new container barges of TRANSIMEX SAIGON and the Saigon Maritime Joint Stock Co. is reasonable and meets demand of the current market.
