Largest steelmaker’s 7-month profit reaches $46 million

Hoa Phat Group (HOSE: HPG), Vietnam’s largest steel producer, posted an after-tax profit of VND802 billion (US$45 million) over the first seven months of the year, Dau Tu Chung Khoan newspaper reported Wednesday.

The profit was equal to 89 percent of the Hung Yen province-based mill’s full-year target, the newspaper said.

Sales reached VND4.4 trillion ($248 million), accounting for 62 percent of the 2009 projection, said the report.

Hoa Phat shares yesterday rose 3 percent to close at VND69,500 on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange.
