Labor export firms to face more stringent measures

Ineffective labor export businesses should have their licenses revoked to protect the interest of workers, a meeting in Hanoi heard Friday.

Participants at the meeting on legal policies regarding sending workers abroad stressed the need for more stringent inspections of labor export firms and a limit on issuing licenses to such firms.

Poor management has resulted in workers having to spend 1.5-10 times more money than needed to get a contract to work abroad, they noted.

The meeting agreed that the main focus of labor exports should be on major markets.

The National Assembly’s Social Issues Committee, which organized the meeting, said workers’ strong desire to seek jobs abroad sometimes caused problems for themselves.
