Indian textile show targets greater market share

Indian firms will organize a textile show next week to promote their products in Vietnam and compete with Chinese suppliers.

The show, to be held in Rex Hotel from August 25-26, will display yarn, cotton and other products from 26 Indian firms.

Local businesses were importing materials from Chinese suppliers for their factories at present. “We want to be another source and offer competitive prices for Vietnamese exporters,” one of the organizers said at a press conference Friday.

India exported US$7.03 million tons of yarn, cotton and other products to Vietnam in 2004-2005 and this increased to $27.5 million in 2008-2009, according to the council.
