Expressway project to begin in October

Vietnam Expressway Corporation and China Bridge and Road Corporation signed an agreement Wednesday to begin building part of the North-South Expressway in October.

The package includes the building of 3.5 kilometers of the expressway at a cost of more than VND1.3 trillion (US$75 million).

The 51-kilometer North-South Expressway would begin in HCMC’s District 9 and end at the junction with National Highway 51 at the Dau Giay area in the southern province of Dong Nai, which neighbors Ho Chi Minh City.

The investment for the first phase is more than VND15 trillion ($842.7 million), most of which will be supplied by foreign loans, said project developers.
