Drug maker wins annual-report prize
The Hau Giang Pharmaceutical Company (HoSE: DHG) , which is listed on the HCM City Stock Exchange, yesterday received an award for putting out the best annual report for 2008 among all listed companies.
The Most Outstanding Annual Report Prize, sponsored by fund management company Dragon Capital, goes to companies whose reports have the highest transparency and provide the maximum amount of information to investors, rather than for their business performance, Le Nhi Nang, HoSE deputy general director, said.
Other important criteria for the awards are creative design and quality printing.
The exchange and Dau Tu Chung Khoan newspaper, who select the winners, also named 11 other companies for the annual awards. This number changes annually.
They include the Asia Commercial Bank and Kinh Bac Urban Development Co., which are listed on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, and real estate firm Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Sacombank, telecom service provider Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology, and Vinamilk from the HoSE.
The HoSE-listed Thu Duc House Developing Company received the Most Impressive Annual Report Prize for its design. Only 46 out of the country’s more than 300 listed companies had sent in their reports to the contest.
"It was the first time that those listed in Ha Noi are involved and this annual event has become a driving force for companies to improve their report’s professionalism and transparency, which help increase the transparency of the stock market," Nguyen Anh Tuan, editor-in-chief of the Vietnam Investment Review group, which publishes Dau Tu Chung Khoan, said.
