Dairy company changes name
The dairy products company FrieslandFoods Dutch Lady Vietnam has been renamed FrieslandCampina Vietnam, following the merger earlier this year of the two largest dairy companies in Holland, Royal FrieslandFoods and Campina.
FrieslandCampina Vietnam is a joint-venture of Royal FrieslandCampina and Protrade, a Binh Duong Province-based production and import-export company, with the latter representing a 30 per cent stake.
"This significant event leads to new opportunities to make additional contributions to Viet Nam’s development," said Jan Bles, managing director for FrieslandCampina Vietnam.
FrieslandCampina will continue to research and develop better products based on its parent company’s 130 years of experience in the business.
In 1995, FrieslandFoods Dutch Lady Vietnam built its first factory in Binh Duong and another in the northern province of Ha Nam last year.
To date it has invested US$155 million in its facilities that include several cold stations for collecting cow milk from 2,600 dairy farming households.
The company has a market share of 30 per cent, which is expected to increase by 1 per cent annually.
This year, it targets a total turnover of $350 million from sales of its products under brands, including Dutch Lady, Friso and YoMost, via more than 150 distributors nationwide and more than 100,000 retailers.
