VN-Index advances despite investor caution
Domestic stock indices managed to advance on June 18 despite mixed trading resulting from investor caution.
On the southern market, the VN-Index increased 6.8 points to close at 479.27, a rise of 1.44 percent. Trading volume remained significant at 53.4 million shares on a total turnover of 2 trillion VND (112.4 million USD).
In Hanoi , the HASTC-Index gained 1.52 points to end the day at 168.54, an increase of 0.91 percent. The value of the day’s trades was 851.2 billion (47.8 million USD) on a volume of 24.3 million.
Banking and financial shares still proved the most active, as Sacombank (STB) led the HCM City market with 7.6 million shares, followed by Saigon Securities Inc (SSI) with 2.4 million. Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) led the northern market with 4.3 million shares, followed by Kim Long Securities (KLS) with 2.3 million.
On the day, foreign investor transactions stayed modest with around 6.1 million shares changing hands. They finished the day as net sellers of 3.6 million shares with a net value of nearly 115 billion VND (6.5 million USD).
