Vietnamese, RoK ports to strengthen ties

The Mayor of Busan, the largest seaport in the Republic of Korea (RoK), has underlined his support for setting up better communications between Saigon Port and Busan Port.

At a meeting with Ho Chi Minh City ’s leaders on June 9, Busan Mayor Hur Nam-sik said that RoK businesses, especially those in Busan, are pleased with their investments in Ho Chi Minh City and other southern localities and will continue to expand their operations in the country.

During his two-day visit to the city, the Busan leader visited Saigon Port and discussed several ways of boosting cooperation between the port authorities of both Busan and Saigon . “We pledge a consistent and stable investment and business policy,” he stated.

The City’s People’s Committee Chairman, Le Hoang Quan, revealed that the municipal authorities have zoned off land for the RoK Consulate General to build schools for the city’s RoK ex-patriot community’s 30,000 children.

Ho Chi Minh City and Busan plan to celebrate the 15 th anniversary of their ties in 2010.
