Kien Giang exports sweet potatoes for the first time

Hon Dat district in the southern province Kien Giang has exported 150 tonnes of sweet potatoes to Cambodia and Thailand.

Like Hon Dat, Giong Rieng and Kien Luong districts in the same province are also well suited for growing sweet potatoes on more than 1,000 ha with an average yield of nearly 20,000 tonnes.

This is the first time local farmers have found an outlet for their agricultural produce. The  price for sweet potatoes exported to foreign markets ranges between VND2,600  and VND3,200 per kg, about VND600-800 higher than on the domestic market.
