Indochinese countries seek audit cooperation

Leaders of state audit agencies of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam gathered in Hanoi on June 1 to discuss measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation and build a long-term trilateral cooperation mechanism.

At the talk, Vietnam ’s State Auditor General Vuong Dinh Hue suggested joint auditing activities among the three countries in several areas such as hydropower, tourism and environment. This may be the setting up of joint audit delegations, Hue said.

The audit leaders agreed to propose their governments to include audit cooperation into the inter-governmental cooperation programme.

They also agreed to organise an annual rotating meeting to strengthen and raise the efficiency of cooperative activities.

The next talk is expected to take place in Phnom Penh , Cambodia , in 2010.
