Vietnam, Algeria encourage more bilateral trade
Algerian Trade Minter El Hachemi Djaaboub on May 26 received a Vietnamese trade delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thanh Bien, who are visiting Algeria from May 25-31.
Minister Hachemi expressed his delight at being able to welcome the delegation before the start of the 42nd Algiers International Exhibition Fair, which opens on May 30 with several Vietnamese businesses taking part.
The Minister pledged to create the best possible conditions for Vietnamese and Algerian enterprises to do business with each other and offered Vietnam a free pavilion at the Algiers International Fair from 2010.
Meanwhile, a Vietnamese business delegation has been in Algiers seeking out opportunities to promote bilateral cooperation through a business forum. The delegation included representatives of 15 Vietnamese companies that import and export garments and textiles, leather shoes, rice, coffee and coconut fibre.
Last year, Vietnam earned an export value of 75.63 million USD in the Algerian market, an 87 percent year-on-year increase.
Vietnam mainly exports coffee, pepper, rice and seafood to Algeria, and imports cashew nuts and steel from the country, turning over an import value of more than 1.2 million USD a year.
