Strengthening international economic integration

The National Committee for International Economic Integration (NCIEI) held a meeting to review works done in the first quarter of 2009 and make plans for the coming time in Hanoi on May 13.

The Secretary General of National Committee, Deputy Minister Nguyen Cam Tu presented a review report on international economic integration in recent time and focal tasks for the coming time. Also, representatives from ministries and member sectors reported on international economic integration in their fields and sectors.

Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of the committee, Pham Gia Khiem appreciated efforts of ministries and sectors concerned in integration activities and international economic co-operation to promote Vietnam’s prestige to the world. Deputy PM also asked to promptly deploy and complete detailed works such as completing report on impact assessment of Vietnam’s two-year WTO membership, Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiation strategy to 2020, the ninth Asia-Europe Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (ASEM-9), technology assistance for post-WTO accession and other important tasks.
