HCM City's CPI rises 0.58 percent in May
The consumer price index (CPI) of Ho Chi Minh City rose by 0.58 percent in May from the previous month and by 2.47 percent compared with early this year, reported the municipal statistics office.
The increase has been found in a wide range of commodities. Those with the highest rises include transport and postal and telecommunications services (2.08 percent), housing, water and electricity supplies and construction material (1.37 percent), and household appliances (1.17 percent).

The local statistics office said the purchasing power in May has increased considerably as a result of various promotional campaigns and a long holiday, which included May Day and Southern Liberation Day (April 30).
Also in May, the gold price increased by 0.2 percent and the dollar price by 1.96 percent.
