VND20 trillion earmarked for investment promotion

The Government plans to earmark VND20 trillion for the National Investment Promotion Programme 2009, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Apart from this sum, the programme will receive more than VND9 trillion left from the last year’s plan.

Under the programme, recently approved by the MoPI, investment promotion activities will cover conferences both at home and abroad, overseas visits by business delegations to call for investment, and training courses for the staff in this field.

In the second quarter of this year, the ministry is scheduled to host a number of conferences at home to attract foreign investment in infrastructure development, water supply and drainage, waste treatment, housing for low income earners, tea processing, and the Central Highlands.

For the third and fourth quarters, it will focus on promoting the inflow of foreign investment into human resource development in northern and central coastal provinces; cultural, sports and tourism projects in the south, and trade and tourism projects in the southwestern region.
