Vietnam nets 1 billion USD from aquatic exports

Vietnam earned over 300 million USD from aquatic exports in April, bringing the total turnover for the first four months of this year to 1.05 billion USD, said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Tra and basa catfish exports inched up by 1.5 percent to 116,600 tonnes, with a value of 265 million USD.

The country also made 234 million USD from exporting 27,800 tonnes of shrimp, with Japan, the major customer, taking more than one-third of the exports.

Meanwhile, the EU is still the largest buyer of Vietnam’s aquatic products, importing 50,000 tonnes valued at 120 million USD to its markets.

It was also the main importer of Vietnamese tuna, shipping 3.55 tonnes at a cost of 10.75 million USD.
