Ministry wants to curtail unregistered prepaid mobile phone use

Ministry of Information and Communications inspectors have called for limiting the use of prepaid mobile SIM cards by unregistered subscribers.

Speaking at a conference in Hanoi Friday, they also offered suggestions on how to do it.

Service providers should only appoint agents with clear addresses.

They should not accept information about subscribers from unauthorized agents or activate SIM cards on that basis, they said.

The inspectors also suggested that providers should instruct users with more than 50 SIM cards to register again and cancel them if they do not comply.
