Inauguration of Inter-Bank Electronic Payment System Phase 2
The second phase of the World Bank-funded Inter-Bank Electronic Payment System was inaugurated on February 28.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan appreciated great efforts of the State Bank of Vietnam SBV)’s Management Board and staff of the banking sector in the co-ordination with the relevant ministries and agencies in preparing and putting the second phase into operation ahead of schedule.
This is of more practical importance in the context that the whole country is taking a lot of measures to save every penny for the socio-economic development, he added.
The Deputy Prime Minister also believed that following its inauguration, this system would surely be managed and exploited effectively by the SBV in order to enhance the provision of advanced and highly convenient electronic payment services for the society and become an efficient tool to better monitor and manage operations of the banking sector, and to promote non-cash payment services, thereby contributing to stabilizing the value of the domestic currency, maintaining macro-economy stability, better meeting the requirements of the socio-economic development, and consolidating the effectiveness and operational safety of the whole banking industry.
On this occasion, the Banking Information Technology Center was presented with the Independence Order, third class, by the Deputy Prime Minister for its great contribution to the renovation of the country in general and the banking industry in particular. Three staff of the SBV also received Labour Oders, third class.
