Diesel price slashed to VND10,000/litre
The diesel price has been slashed to VND10,000/litre after the public continuously urged oil and petrol distributors to slash retail prices on the world’s continued price decreases.
The Head of the Price Control Department under the Ministry of Finance Nguyen Tien Thoa on March 19 signed the decision, approving the proposals by petroleum distributors to slash the diesel price by VND500/litre from VND10,500 to VND10,000/litre. The new retail diesel price includes valued added tax (VAT).
Prior to that, Petrolimex and Saigon Petro sent a document to state management agencies, registering to reduce diesel prices as the prices of the product have been on the decrease. The enterprises were told to determine when the prices would be changed themselves.
Vuong Thai Dung, Deputy General Director of Petrolimex, said that with the latest price adjustment, the diesel sold by the company is VND10,000/litre for 0.05S diesel and VND9,950/litre for 0.25S diesel.
The new prices were applied at 9.30 am March 19 throughout the whole distribution system and affiliated filling stations of Petrolimex.
In the last week, the DO price on the world’s market has been decreasing to $48/tonne. With such an import price, after counting taxes and other expenses, the cost price of every litre of DO would be VND9,098/litre.
No price adjustment for petrol has been announced. Distributors say that they are still incurring losses on petrol sales.
