Binh Duong attracts over $314 million in FDI in first quarter
The southern province of Binh Duong attracted an additional US$314.7 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first quarter of the year despite the ongoing global economic recession. Of the total amount, US$206.4 million came from 21 new projects.
Binh Duong has so far attracted 1,842 projects with a combined capital of US$11.413 billion.
However, its FDI in the first quarter was equal to only 46 percent of last year’s figure and the average capital per new project reached only US$9.8 million.
To accelerate FDI inflows, the provincial people’s committee has asked its sectors to prioritize stimulus packages, step up the pace of building infrastructure, refine administrative procedures and strengthen the promotion of both domestic and foreign investment.
The local authorities will continue to meet with entrepreneurs and investors to help remove obstacles to their operations in a timely manner.
