Credit in banking system rose 21 percent in 2008
Credit in Vietnam’s banking system increased 21 percent in 2008, the State Bank of Vietnam said in a report posted on its website last week.
Outstanding loans increased 1.09 percent in December from a month earlier, the State Bank of Vietnam said. Loans denominated in Vietnamese dong gained 0.96 percent and debt in foreign currencies climbed 1.6 percent from November, according to the report.
Deposits at commercial banks rose 20.5 percent in 2008, the report said.
