Thanh Nien, Vincom Group fund HCMC road upgrade

Work began Tuesday on upgrading an 800 meter section of Long Phuoc Street that runs between the Ong Hoa and Rach Muong bridges in District 9.

The upgrade, estimated to cost VND 1 billion (US$57,000) is being funded by Thanh Nien newspaper, real estate company Vincom Group and the People’s Committee of Long Phuoc Ward.

The road section being upgraded is now basalt-paved and full of potholes, making it dangerous for commuters and locals.

The upgrade will lift the street by 30 centimeters and cover the five meter wide street with asphalt.

Two years ago, Thanh Nien also financed the installation of water supply pipes along this street.
