Surplus cement production predicted for next year
The Ministry of Construction estimates that cement production will reach 45-46 million tonnes in 2009, however, the total demand of consumers nationwide is only 44-45 million tonnes, up more than 10 percent against this year.
This year, the cement industry put into operation 10 factories with a total capacity of more than 11 million tonnes.
With some 18 cement projects going to get off the ground next year with a total capacity of 20 million tonnes, Vietnam is expected to reach 60 million tonnes of cement by the end of 2008, and even have some surplus for export in 2010.
