SBV Governor meets with WB Vice President
Governor Nguyen Van Giau of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), on December 3, had a meeting with Mr. James Adams, Vice President of the World Bank (WB), on the occasion of his visit to Vietnam.
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the global economic situation, the measures taken by the Government and SBV to cope with the impacts of the global financial crisis and so on and so forth.
The Governor took this occasion to inform Mr. James Adams of Vietnam’s p reparedness to get access to loans from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) of the WB Group. He also expressed his sincere thanks for WB’s valuable support and assistances over the past years and stressed that Vietnam would make best use of the WB loans.
For his part, the WB Vice-President highly appreciated SBV’s flexibility in monetary policy management. He said he believed that Vietnam would be successful in curtailing inflation and preventing economic recession against the background of improved international economy.
