Mobifone completes network upgrade

Mobifone has annouanced the completion of a plan to enhance its network capacity to meet rising demand of subscribers during the peak hour of the coming Lunar New Year.

Over the last three years, Mobifone has installed three more MSC Alcatel switchboards in Hanoi , HCM City , Can Tho and four other MSC Huawei switch boards in HCM City , Da Nang and Can Tho to bring the total network capacity to nearly 20 million subscribers.

Mobifone has also invested in upgrading the capacity of short message services (SMS) to mimimise network obstruction and expanding GPRS capacity to ensure service for the entire network. Experienced network obstruction in peak hours during the Tet festivals in 2006 and 2007, the company carried out the upgrades in order to ensure smooth communication during peak hours of the coming lunar new year.
